Novice Groups

Novice D

This group is for swimmers ages 5-7 who have no competitive swimming experience. The focus of this practice group is to introduce the sport of swimming and develop an enthusiasm for swimming. Swimmers must be comfortable in the water and able to float on their backs without assistance to start in this group.

Novice C

This group is for swimmers ages 5-7 who have no competitive swimming experience. The focus of this practice group is to develop the swimmer’s stroke skills (free style and backstroke) and their enthusiasm for swimming. Swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool (25 yards) without assistance to start in this group.

Novice B

Swimmer ages 6-8, who have some or no competitive swimming experience and would like to continue to refine their swimming skills. Swimmers have already learned the basics of Freestyle and backstroke and they will learn breaststroke, starts, & turns.

Novice A

This group is for young swimmers 10&under, who are ready to learn more advanced stroke techniques. Other activities besides swimming is still strongly encouraged.  Swimmers compete in swim meets, particularly inter-squad and USA swimming events.
